5 Little Known Ways To Increase Your Emotional Intelligence

Hands up everyone who wants to be an inspirational, happy person. All of us, right?

In a world hooked on quick fixes, the new five step plan at the Inspiration Academy will definitely do the trick.

Think again
You want to enjoy excellent relationships. You want to be successful. The fast track has its obvious attractions. Pay your way to a better quality of life. Attend the conventions, read the books, buy the DVDs. Learn the secrets from the gurus.

Time for a reality check
You can’t graduate from the Inspiration Academy unless you consistently master the basics of Emotional Intelligence . You need to go back to EQ Pre-School.

Are you ready for the first lesson?
Practice saying the following phrases aloud:

“I love you.”
“I am sorry.”
“Please forgive me.”
“I was wrong.”
“Thank you.”

As you say each phrase, notice how you feel.

Rate how comfortable you feel saying each of them on a scale of 1- 5, with 5 being the highest possible score.

Even if you believe that you’re so aware of yourself that you feel you’re one of the Professors at the Inspiration Academy, always keep yourself grounded by taking a regular refresher at EQ Pre-School.

It works and it won’t cost you a cent.

What Next?

What do you need to do differently to increase your scores?

Where will you start?

What a great post — I was thinking how we add “but” to these words you posted and that negates them.
“I love you.” but you need to change …
“I am sorry.” but you started it …
“Please forgive me.” but I think you’re wrong…
“I was wrong.” but so were you …
“Thank you.” … but not today…

I like these words when they end as you listed ‘em! Time to drop the buts and increase the intelligence :-) Great post to get us thinking - thanks Galba!

Thanks Ellen. It’s my pleasure. You might enjoy looking at “Words Sounds & Personal Power” in the July and October Tools for Transformation Newsletter. I observe that, so often, when we say “YES, BUT,” we really mean “NO.” I argue that “YES, AND” opens up a completely different level of conversation.

Simple but True and vitally necessary in a world of great inferiority. What peace, happiness and joy is derived when such words are spoken at the right time, in the correct tone and in the right place.

Those five reminders are the pipelines of genuinity, they sink to the depths of one’s consciousness they ignite the right vibrations, they remind both the sayer and the receipient that we are all Human and there will be times when we err but the acknowledgement of one’s error is the beginning of EQ
