Galba Bright’s 7 Laws of Emotional Intelligence: Law #7

Law # 7 I can practice and learn new and more effective behaviours.

The automatic stimulus response connection shown here is a form of programming.

The problem is that your behaviour is automatically controlled by external factors, for example, what other people say or do or other events.

Even if you live on a desert island, you have to have remain aware of what is happening around you.

Wherever you are in the world, you empower yourself by identifying the choices and options that are available to you in any situation that you face. You then act on that understanding and make informed choices.

When you do this consistently you replace your past programming with a new way of thinking and behaving. Your new mental software enables you to live a more emotionally intelligent life.

Here are Galba Bright’s 7 Laws of Emotional Intelligence

Law #1: I am responsible for my own feelings.
Law #2: I am responsible for my own behaviour
Law #3: I always have choices about how I respond to situations, events and people.
Law #4: No-one can make me upset, angry, happy etc.
Law #5: Identifying my choices empowers me to take fresh look at my behaviour.

Law # 6: Recognising my range of choices is an excellent way to start changing my behaviour for the better.
Law# 7: I can practice and learn new and more effective behaviours.

The bottom line

Many of us (myself included, of course) have made our lives far more complex and bewildering than is necessary. Misplaced anger, blaming others, acting like a victim and a host of habitual (yet dangerous) behaviours stress us out. They also makes us cold and miserable.

My 7 Laws aim to help you restore some much needed balance and simplicity to your life. If you are aim to live by them and deal with yourself compassionately. You will enjoy positive changes in your life.

Stick with the Laws and you will transform yourself from the inside out.

The world will be a better place as a result.

How do you feel about the 7 Laws?

Which of the Laws would you exclude?

Which of the Laws would you change?

Are there are any Laws that you would add?

What would you add?

What next?

Hi Galba, Congrats! This is wonderful. Material is well timed and relevant for the individual on their journey. Too often we do not take time for reflection - this is a great appetizer! Thanks! Keep going!

I have been trying to keep up with your 7 EI law series but I must ask where is your feature on law 5.

I support you a million times that simplicity is the way to go. Life with simplicity is stress free and harbours no moss, no merk, no germs,no virus, no bacteria or dis-ease. This harnesses communities and the wholesome development of all concerned.

I say, unreservedly that for this dispensation to be good and all positive then all six billion recorded humans who are the inhabitants of this planet must become Emotionally Intelligent and take charge of self-behaviour.

This is the way for planet transformation. These words look very simple but they are All-Powerful. Am most grateful for your inspiration and for sharing your self-actualisation. Words are powerful they hold invincible energy.

    Answers to your questions:

I would not exclude any, all are relevant. They all form a powerful chain and some even reinforces or re-affirm another.

I would only remodel Law #7: I will learn and practice new and more effective behaviour.

When I am repeating it I use ‘will’ to make it more self directed. In other words, I voice it as an onus not a choice.
