Me And My EQ,What Happened Next

April 16th, 2007 by Galba Bright

The story so far

In the previous post in the series I described how a comment from Ellen Weber triggered the idea of asking some Tune Up Your Emotional Intelligence Workbook readers to tell their stories. Once the seed was planted, I got down to work.

Working with the readers

I asked four readers who I had stayed in touch with since January 2006 if they would be willing to share their story in a blog post, or two.

I explained that my purpose was to show how EQ impacts on real people and to encourage readers to consider how EQ could
benefit them. I explained to each of them that I would only edit their story for grammatical errors and that they would have the full and final say on what was included. I then asked them how they felt about the idea.

Setting ground rules

I promised them that I would observe the following ground rules:

1. I will include your answers exactly as you gave them to me, save for any necessary grammatical changes.

2. I will offer you the opportunity to add your photo if you wish. If so, please send me your photo in digital format i.e. as a .jpeg or .gif file. If you wish to do so, please email me your ‘photo.

3. I will offer you the opportunity to include your personal details if you wish, for example, your age, occupation, interests and location.

4. I will notify you at least two working days before your EQ and Me blog post(s) is/are posted to the blog.

5. I am happy to answer your queries by ‘phone or email before or after your EQ and Me blog post(s) is/are posted.

I was excited when all of them replied by email within 24 hours. Better still, I was overjoyed that all of them agreed to take centre stage in this unusual project.

Are you ready for Me and My Emotional Intelligence?

So, readers, let’s get the series rolling. I’m really delighted that Vickie Thompson, Tyrone Small, Tanika Williams and Jeanette Campbell are going to share their stories.

Me and my Emotional Intelligence is a six part series, because, Tanika’s and Jeanette’s stories are in two parts.

I want to thank Vickie, Tyrone, Tanika and Jeanette for their generosity and openness. I also want to thank Ellen Weber from Brain Based Business for her interest in Emotional intelligence stories.

Let’s start with Vickie’s story.
