“I guess some things are meant to be, I think this list was waiting to be born. I just happened to be lucky enough to pick up the vibe.”

Priscilla Palmer on her Personal Development List Initiative

Priscilla Palmer’s Personal Development List continues to grow.

Priscilla started out by recommending 5 personal development blogs. She invited her readers to do the same. Priscilla compiled the list, updates it every day and hosts it on her blog. As I write this, the Personal Development List boasts a staggering 599 recommended blogs. You can view the updated Personal Development List here .

5 Tune up your EQ Questions For Priscilla Palmer

Priscilla kindly agreed to answer my 5 questions about how this amazing idea became a reality.

Here’s what Priscilla said:

GB: What or who inspired you to initiate the Personal Development List?

PP: I had two influences in starting The Personal Development List.

1- I had been included on the W-List (a list of outstanding women bloggers). I wondered how such

a list would work in the personal development world.

2- When I go to bed before I fall asleep, I have a habit of asking (myself, God, and the universe) a question like “what can I write about that will have a positive impact on the world?

Then I close my eyes and let ideas flow in. I had been spending hours everyday searching for personal development sites to connect with. It was during this practice that the W-list and personal development started spinning in my head, and how the idea for The Personal Development List was born.

GB:Did you encounter any barriers in starting and/or sustaining the initiative?

PP: No, I guess some things are meant to be, I think this list was waiting to be born. I just happened to be lucky enough to pick up the vibe.

GB:If “yes,” what were they?

PP: I feel fortunate that I don’t have an answer for this one.

GB: How did you overcome them?

PP: I’m again pleased that I don’t have and answer.

GB: What have you learned?

PP: I have learned that sometimes it is the simplest of ideas that are the most popular. I am grateful and in awe of how successful this list has become.

Priscilla Acted With Initiative

Thanks so much Priscilla for:

1. having the idea
2. acting on her initiative3. inspiring others to act

At the close of our email conversation, Priscilla said:

“Thank you to everyone for your willingness to support, post, and add to the list. Without everyone’s efforts this list would have been just five names.”

Priscilla :)

I learned this, Galba: Priscilla used a tactic that Dr. Ellen Weber taught me. Ask yourself a question before you go to sleep, because your brain works on the answer for you. Amazingly, in all its networks, our own brain serves up such answers for us. I’ve had it happen again and again. And once you see it, you seize the moment and go for it as Priscilla did.

The interview was interesting. Thanks for a great blog, Galba.
