“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve “

Napoleon Hill, Think And Grow Rich

Many people who read Napoleon Hill’s classic personal development book, Think and Grow Rich believe that it’s pathway to greater financial wealth.

In Part 1 of this series, I suggested that there was more to his ideas. View the video clip here.

The “more” that I referred is all about Emotional Intelligence.

3 Quick EQ Lessons From Napoleon Hill
Here are 3 amazing things that I noted when I watched the video clip:

1. The order in which Napoleon Hill listed the 6 types of riches.

Here’s the sequence:
1.Sound health.
2.Peace of mind.
3.A labour of love of your own choosing.
4.Freedom from worry and fear.
5.A positive mental attitude, and finally,
6.Material riches of your own choice and quantity.

Did he list material riches last by accident?

In the video, Napoleon Hill said:

“Any success begins with definiteness of purpose”

I believe his order of priorities was intentional.

All the riches that Napoleon Hill listed before material riches, save for sound health, are related to your ability to manage your emotions.

Your emotional intelligence facilitates your ability to be successful. It is critical to your personal development.

2.The process by which you become successful

Hill argues that you succeed in these 3 stages:

1. becoming clear about your purpose
2. becoming clear about what you all willing to give in return
3. beginning to give

If Hill is correct, is it selfish to devote time to developing yourself, or is it instead, your profound duty?

3. Napoleon Hill walks his talk.

Notice that Hill defines his goal of publicising Think and Grow Rich as:

“a mission”

Was that why he prayed for:

“more wisdom, not more riches?”

He passes his message on in a:

“spirit of humble sincerity”

When I watched this video, I saw a humble person who genuinely believed in his message.

I look at the video through the “lens” of emotional intelligence.

What lens do you see it through?

What conclusions do you reach as a result?

People often expend so much energy in the pursuit of material wealth without giving any time to the mindset or emotional intelligence.

Napoleon Hill and Think and Grow Rich rock. It helped us successfully create and build a wonderful organization of investors where EQ is paramount.

    Cheers

Thank you for this post Galba. TAGR, for me, is way more than just riches. In fact it was the book that changed me from “a sit and read” guy to a “get off my ass and take action” guy.

Previously I was just looking for an easy way out, this book got me working.
